German Photo Book Award 2013
Photo Book Exhibition (Manila)
07 to 23 August (opening on August 7 at 3pm)
Learning Commons, De La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Manila

Since more than 30 years the Association of Publishers and Booksellers in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, has annually awarded the German Photo Book Award. First it was known as the Kodak Photo Book Award with Kodak company as sponsor. Since 2005 the Association of Publishers and Booksellers has been organizing this award as the German Photo Book Award.

The German Photo Book Award is given in three categories:
  • photo/illustrated books
  • photo-textbooks
  • photo history / photo theory
The award is presented for special performances of photographers, composers and editors, who have solved a conceptual formulation in an excellent way. For evaluation, criteria like photographic quality, aesthetic overall impression, as well as technical photographic and historic performance are considered.

The German Photo Book Award is awarded in three categories:
  • Winner “Gold”
  • Winner “Silver”
  • Nominee
An independent jury, composed of specialized journalists, photographers, art-directors, and so on, chooses the “Nominees” from all the books submitted. From these chosen oeuvres the jury elects in further sessions the winner titles (Gold and Silver).

Goethe-Institut Philippinen presents the winners of this years‘ Photo Book Awards at the Learning Commons, De La Salle University. Among the 5 gold winning titles and 17 silver titles, another 170 nominees will also be shown.

As a complimentary event, an Art Talk on the “New Philippine Photography" by Estan Cabigas will also be held during the opening of the exhibition on August 7, 2013 at 3:00pm.
