Emmanuel Santos was born in the Philippines in 1957 and migrated to Melbourne in 1982. A photo essayist specializing in areas of ethnology, spirituality and social documentary, Santos began his photographic career working for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Belguim, France, the Ukraine, Israel and Brazil. His work is widely collected and published worldwide. In May 2008, his series of 38 photographs, The Passing of Light was sold at the Christie’s Southeast Asian Contemporary Auction, breaking records in Philippine photography.
 
In his workshop with slideshow and lectures, Santos will discuss the process of Passive (concept) and Active (realization) in creative image making through photography. In it, he will share his insights on inspiration and the whole creative process involved in creating bodies of works. There are no prerequisites to join the series but an interest in photography and image-making are necessary. Slots are limited.
