Emmanuel Santos' The Passing of Light II: The Book of Illumination
February 12 - March 14, 2009
Opening reception on Thursday, February 12, 6pm
In 2007, Santos exhibited The Passing of Light, the first part of a series of photographs drawn from the holy scriptures of the Bible, the Torah, and the Koran. Santos returns to Silverlens with The Passing of Light II: Book of Illumination. The show will have an opening reception on February 12, Thursday at 6pm and runs until March 14, 2009.
Santos will be giving an artist talk on February 14, Saturday, from 3-5pm on how music played an important role in the creation of the exhibition. "Photography is my song, a monochromatic ballad of expressions between birth and death," says Santos. "A melodic song that appears like scenes devoid of dress rehearsal and images that were formed in the shadows of the earth’s surface… silent and mute, craving to be told. The chorus often lasts with unending refrain of joy and sorrow, a continuous pattern in human cycle."
