The Goethe-Institut, Rogue Magazine and the Yuchengco Museum proudly present “Zeitgeist Becomes Form: German Fashion Photography 1945-1955”, an exhibit featuring iconic images by some of Germany’s most renowned photographers. The 188 images of the exhibit include works by Helmut Newton, Wolfgang Tillmans, Olaf Martens, Jürgen Teller and 35 other photographers selected by curator FC Gundlach.

The exhibit is more than just a simple history of fashion and how it was photographed, it also offers an overview, comprising a myriad of facets, which covers fifty years of German fashion photography. The pictorial language of the respective photographers, the model, her or his pose as well as the clothing, the background, and the technical quality of the photography take the viewer far beyond the respective fads and trends of fashion. They also give information on the so-called Zeitgeist (“spirit of the times”), changes in society, codes of morality, and the feelings and longings of people at a certain point in time.

Opening on 26 February, 6 pm, the exhibit will be on display at the Yuchengco Museum until 25 April. “Zeitgeist Becomes Form: German Fashion Photography 1945-1995” is an exhibit by the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (IfA) presented in Manila by the Goethe-Institut, Rogue Magazine and the Yuchengco Museum. It is also held in cooperation with YoCard. For
